Hiring across state lines
Every time you hire an employee in a new state, there’s a lot of time and paperwork involved with registering your company in that state. The tax registration process varies widely; depending on the state, you may be able to complete the registration entirely online, or there might be parts requiring snail mail, which can mean delays on when your new hire can start.Even if the process is online, it can often involve working with multiple state departments and websites with antiquated technology. This manual work can end up taking hours of time, and it is often cumbersome enough to make companies hesitant to hire in new states. To significantly streamline the state registration process and make it easier for companies to hire anywhere, we’re launching the ability to complete state registrations online in all 50 US states, plus Washington, D.C. Eliminate hours of manual effort from the process by using Pilot for your state registrations. As part of this launch, we're also adding the ability for companies to connect their US payroll software to Pilot, so that they can view their employee data all in one place and easily see what states their employees are in.
