Making sure every employee has the right to work in their country is a key part of our international onboarding process. This not only ensures compliance but also provides peace of mind for everyone involved. If you’re unsure about an employee’s right to work, just ask if they have citizenship, permanent residency, or a work permit/visa in the country where we’re hiring them.As part of onboarding, we'll verify each employee’s nationality and right to work status. Non-nationals will need to complete a right to work check. If an employee doesn't currently have the right to work, don’t worry! We’re here to help with the necessary checks and visa sponsorship if needed.We are constantly expanding the countries where we can provide visa support. Visa support is not available in Canada, Australia, Ukraine, and the Netherlands (except for blue cards). For questions about visa support in a specific country, reach out to support@plane.com.

Types of Checks

Right to Work A right to work check is needed for non-nationals with a residency permit, work permit, or visa before onboarding. We need to ensure the employee's current permit has no limitations. If the employee's visa has limitations, we will review the available visa sponsorship options.

Process: Plane request proof of right to work documentation from the company admin and employee. This is sent to our visa partners for review. Once they receive all required documents, they begin the verification process.

Timeline: 1 to 2 weeks.

Eligibility Check An eligibility check confirms if an employee is eligible for visa sponsorship in a country. The required information and documentation can vary by country, and the check also assesses the likelihood of visa application success.

Process: Plane gather all required documentation and send it to our immigration partners for review. Once the company approves the fee and our partners receive all documents, they begin the eligibility check.

Timeline: 2 to 3 weeks.

Visa Sponsorship 🎫

If an employee needs visa sponsorship to work in their hiring country, we can assist through our visa partners.Visa Sponsorship Process:

If our partners determine that the employee requires visa sponsorship, Plane will collect relevant documents from the employee.

A visa team member may connect with the employee to start the visa application and gather additional information.

Once the employee is granted the right to work, we can legally hire and pay them in their country of work.

The employee will need to provide an address in their country of sponsorship and their social security number, tax identification number, etc., to be fully onboarded.

Timeline: Varies by country, generally about 3 months or more from the visa application submission to the appropriate local authority.
