How WMBC reduced costs and increased efficiency in recruiting and hiring through Plane’s EOR services.
The We Mean Business Coalition (WMBC) works with seven different nonprofit partners to help businesses reduce their emissions. The coalition’s mission is to ensure that the world economy is on track to limit global warming to a maximum of 1.5°C, halving emissions by 2030 and achieving a global net zero economy by 2050. WMBC has 45 team members working remotely worldwide, with office hubs in Geneva, London, and New York City.
In 2022, WMBC began looking for a new employer of record (EOR) partner for their hiring needs. They were using both Safeguard Global and Papaya and wanted to move to a single EOR partner for all the countries where they wanted to hire. They liked that Plane’s EOR services enable them to hire employees in over 100 countries, using one point of contact. Jean-David Raffenel, their Director of Operations, says, “It was really important for us to have one single point of contact for hiring in the different locations where we have employees, in terms of efficiency and responsiveness.” They also liked the pricing for Plane. Jean-David states, “Plane’s pricing was much more interesting than other companies’. The cost of Plane is one-third of what we paid before.”
Since switching to Plane, Jean-David and his team have seen increased efficiency with recruiting. He says, “When we hire people in new locations, we ask Plane for the contract template, social security and other compliance elements, and details like the length of the contract. We get the info from Plane within the next few days, so we can be much more efficient in our recruitment processes.”
WMBC has also been able to give their new hires the start dates that they want. Jean-David states, “With previous EORs, sometimes we wanted to hire people, and the EOR would have to postpone their start date for a month. This has never been the case with Plane. We have always been able to recruit people and give candidates the start date that we initially informed them about.”
Moving to Plane has increased accuracy for WMBC’s payroll and compliance: “There are no mistakes with payroll. With other EORs, we’ve had issues with locating the base leave amounts, or payments are not the right amount. Sometimes they didn’t follow our instructions. Now, we just give instructions to Plane, use the platform, and it’s really efficient.”
Jean-David has also been impressed with how easy it is to use Plane for potentially complex situations like offboarding. Jean-David says, “When we terminate an employee or do offboarding, we receive our deposit payment back in the next few weeks. Before, with other EORs, we had to fight for months to get the deposit back. So everything is really smooth. That was a pleasant surprise.”
Jean-David likes that, with Plane, his team members can focus on their work: “People are happy with Plane. Employees don’t have to worry about their contract, the compliance elements, or social security, but only focus on their work.”
Using Plane has also enabled Jean-David to focus on his work of helping to grow the WMBC team. He says, “Plane is phenomenal for hiring people wherever they’re located. We’re already recommending Plane to other companies.”
